Did anyone watch the match tonight

it was absolute
The build up to this tournament has been phenomenal - but they just can't come up with the goods - very disappointed.

I didn't watch the match personally, I was at Bedwroth Civic Hall for what I thought was an incredible stage version of The Wizard of Oz.
I did, however see the highlights on ITV. There are several points I want to make about what I saw from the highlights. Feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong.
Point 1: Wayne Rooney is not fit. He can't be. I refuse to believe that after his form for United this season, he is playing to his fully fit best. He had no impact on the game at all, and frankly I'm amazed he saw out the whole game. As for what he did after the game, that for me is inexcusable. Those people have paid good money to go out there to watch some good football, and frankyl deserve better than the shower they got last night. If Rooney is not fit, he should not be playing. It is that simple In my bluntly honest opinion. I've been told that Defoe looked OK in the time had, and we know Crouch can score. Should these two have a go up front?
Point 2: Creativity. Where was it? If anything, Beckenbauer is right. We have gone backwards, especially since the USA game last Saturday. From what I saw of the highlights, Algeria looked more creative. They seemed to have more energy, desire, and more ideas about how to test us in general. If that is the case, then our midfielders need to have a look at themselves. These guys wouldn't make it into the Coventry City squad on current form, let alone the England international squad.
Point 3: Joe Cole. If he's fit, why isn't he being played? I really do believe he'd solve a lot of our problems in the midfield. The whole set up last night looked unbalanced, and uneasy. I think Cole could well be the Hargreaves of our world cup. The player who has the ability to turn it around for us. Certainly worth a gamble in my view, as it surely cannot be any worse than what we had on display.
Point 4: Darren Bent. What does he have to do to get into the squad? We're praying to God and hoping for Rooney to get us through this. But, if we'd taken Bent, we would have had the highest scoring and second highest scoring English forwards in the Premier League. I look at that, and think even if they don't play together, surely when one needs to come out of it, the other can go on and continue the job.
Last point: Capello and changes. It was bluntly obvious, even to me, that the system needed to be changed last night. What does Capello do? Like-for-like changes. Sometimes, you have to gamlbe on something different. I cannot believe one of football's greatest thinkers did not feel the need to try something different at any stage during that game. What we had looked pathetically useless, and that is using very kind words.
We're now in a position where we have no choice but to go for it, and if the display against Slovenia doesn't show any more commitment, creativity or even desperation, then frankly it's home time.
Anyone who watched the game in full is welcome to correct any points I've made here that they don't agree with.

ISB - Sadly I agree with everything you say.
The game was boring - and I lost interest early on - but did see it through to the bitter end.
They were running round like a bunch of headless chickens and Algeria were definitely the better team - and am surprised they didn't beat us.
As far as the players are concerned - I think they need chucking out of the squad and be replaced with some young blood - someone with passion and a desire to win. They might look good playing for their premiership teams on a Saturday afternoon - but take them out of their comfort zone - and they're shown up for what they are.
Rooney's remarks were typical of him really - he has since apologised - he was probably told to - but should never have been said in the first place.
I know little about football - but anyone can see England are a shambles. Maybe it's time to get rid of Capello too.
As you rightly say - people have spent a lot of money going to S.A. and they deserve better. I probably won't bother to watch the game on Wednesday - I consider it would be a waste of an afternoon.

I decided that I would watch W/Cup from the semis onwards and after the England debacle, have made the right decision

To say Rooney is a Scouser is embarassing, to say the least
