Food for thought

Partaking of my breakfast this morning of Scouse sustenance ie; Weetabix , I noticed that the portions seemed to be reduced somewhat, and on reflection, other food items were getting smaller as than they were 12 months ago and I wondered if anybody had noticed the same.
I would say, by past experience, crisps are top of the league as when you open a substantial size bag the amount of crisps contained barely fill half the bag so here we go again, the manufacturers in their money grabbing environment try to delude by not cutting the price of the item and hope that buyers will not notice
As we have found, it is cheaper to invest in a crisp fryer and beneficial to cook sufficient for immediate requirements and bag the rest for future use

I have noticed this very worrying trend of companies reducing the contents but keeping the packing the same as well. My suspicions were confirmed the other day on watchdog ! the companies are claiming that due to the financial downturn their costs have risen and in the end something had to give. Cost, quality or quantity instead of being open about it by raising costs slighty they have chosen to be sneaky about it and hope nobody notices. I for one am not impressed!

They actually thought no-one would notice I guess. You're right about the crisps Stevie - you need to eat 2 packs - well I do - haha.

We've all been disappointed when we've bought something to find that the contents only half fill the packaging

Am I the only who noticed that the current Oxo cubes are the same size as before but because they have bits cut out to make an "X" shape, you get less Oxo than you did before? The company claims it makes the cubes "easier to crumble" but I find they are much drier and 'chalkier' than they used to be and actually harder to crumble evenly.

Another sore point with me is containers with awkwardly shaped interiors which make it impossible to remove all the contents. I'm sure they do it on purpose so you end up buying more than you can ever use.

I'm pretty certain most chocolate bars have been reduced in size too. That's on a par with murder in my book!

Interesting posts on this, but on holiday especially Spain, the barman fills half the glass with ice and then adds the contents and I suppose if you like drink with your ice , you would not be disappointed
