'You ate 95 per cent of your food!'
A popular Coventry pub has hit back at a disgruntled TripAdvisor critic after a scathing review appeared on the rating website.
The Greyhound Inn, at Sutton Stop, responded to an unhappy diner who left a one-star summary of his experience.
Users can rate restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions out of five on the popular haven for amateur critics, but The Greyhound moved to clarify comments which appeared in a particularly poor review last month.
Penning a withering review, diner 'fastman abc' slammed the pub for its "very poor quality food" after he visited in July.
The Greyhound Inn issued a rebuttal, though, as the staff at the popular canalside eatery were clearly not going to take comments lying down.
The initial review reads: "Had meal today very poor quality food (sic).
"Had to send undercooked jacket potato back (difficult to get right), chicken and rib combo greasy and fatty, burger OK-ish.
"Nice looking pub food not great but then maybe I have high standards (sic).
"Website doesn't look child friendly as they only like children not to be heard! It's a shame as tourists may have liked a nice meal (sic)."
The establishment quickly responded, after using TripAdvisor to hit back at another armchair critic a few months ago.
The Sutton Stop pub currently boasts an impressive TripAdvisor standing, with a four-and-a-half star rating from more than 550 reviews.
And they weren't ready to allow this diner an opportunity to spoil their image, hitting back: "I do thank you for your comments and the opportunity for us to respond, this always allows other visitors to review the full facts when making their own mind up about any reviews posted."
The pub told the diner they offered "quality and value for money" simultaneously, before adding: "Was it really the fact that the manager did not deal with your potato complaint personally that actually upset you because as stated you ate 95 per cent of your food?"
The establishment continued in a lengthy response, which you can read in full above.
They Greyhound Inn also told the diner they would allow other potential customers the opportunity to read the exchange for themselves on social media website Facebook.
And signing off in style, the Greyhound finished with: "You addressed your review to other local Coventry people and tourists? I really had no idea that we were a tourist attraction."
