Young children are being enchanted by the appearance of fairy doors on trees in a Coventry park.
The tiny hand-painted doors are accompanied by miniature signs saying things like “Fairies meeting place” alongside little stepladders and plant pots.
The first fairy doors started appearing in Allesley Park a couple of months ago, and now some parents are even re-creating the scenes in their own gardens to spark their children's' imaginations.
Allelsey dad Michael Bolton, who has a three-year-old daughter Eva, said the fairy doors had “caused quite a stir” in the local community.
“We noticed these doors around a month ago or so and my daughter was enchanted by them, wanting to knock the doors, leave flowers and make wishes,” he said.
“It was really nice and it became an event to see the fairy doors.
“On each of our visits there has been more doors and decorations and many, and I mean many, parents with kids all viewing and hunting for the doors.
“My daughter has now found the ‘secret’ door where you can leave a message or a picture in a jar. If you are lucky you get a reply and a present from the fairies.
“Needless to say my daughter is ecstatic by all of this!”
He added: “The whole idea is brilliant, it gets all the kids involved and teaches them a lot.
“Some are even encouraged by the fairies to leave their dummies behind when they don’t need them any more. As a parent I know how hard that can be, but this has helped them get rid of them.”
