There was a character-the bother boy with the spiky hair whose stock saying was "Dad, I got it wrong again". If you can remember the original series, I am correct with "OAPs". :stir:
WARNING - Stand by for abuse :rolling:

You mean this guy?

I remember Dick Emery very well, and I ain't technically an OAP yet!

Incidentally I believe Dick's old Rolls Royce still resides in Coventry. http://www.coventryrolls.co.uk/provenance.htm

That's the one Rebbonk

Dick was also a professional driving instructor and I think some of the characters he invented were based on the people he taught to drive. (He didn't teach you to drive did he Polly?)

One of the great moments in television history (now available on DVD) was when Dick guested on an early edition of the Tony Hancock Show. A badly made props table which was central to the conversation collapsed unexpectedly during a sketch and as the show was live the two men competed to out ad-lib each other until the end of the scene. The end result was undoubtedly much funnier than what had been originally scripted.

I believe he was also qualified pilot and used to fly out of the old Rearsby airfield near Leicester. Can't find anything on the net to back it up, but some of the guys I used to work with reckoned he did Europe freight runs in a twin engined aircraft, and always had a (different) pretty girl on his arm...
