Natwest Broadgate

Thu Jul 23, 2015 4:41 pm

The Luftwaffe couldn't destroy it, but the Natwest are having a go.

All the nice folks who used to help you out with banking matters have gone and been replaced by machines.

You can pay in a cheque with a paying in slip, but there are none. No pens either.

You can allegedly pay in a cheque with your bank card but it isn't an option on the screen when you attempt it.

Yuk.

Do they deserve your custom?

Easy to move accounts these days, and write them a letter explaining exactly why.

My guess is the others will all follow suit, "Monkey see, monkey do".

Sadly Dutchman, I think you're likely right. Nobody actually cares about what the customer wants, it's all done to maximise what they can make out of you.

I once worked with a major UK bank looking into customer complaints. The biggest complaint by far was the length of time a customer would queue for service. I kid you not, their customer care manager issued a memo decreeing that all clocks were to be removed from the banking floor. His argument was that if customers couldn't see the time, they were unlikely to complain about it, so problem solved! :clown:

They keep the queues long on purpose, to 'encourage' customers to use the self-service machines. And then when customers use the machines it gives the management an excuse to cut staff numbers.
