Wasn't the whole idea behind privatisation that it was supposed to reduce the public sector borrowing requirement? Didn't work very well did it?

I'm slightly more concerned that recent governments have destroyed the value of savings and pension purchase schemes while at the same time artificially inflating the price of property and shares.
