Shoppers caused a stir for their slightly over casual appearance

Two women shopping in a supermarket have been branded 'bloody disgusting' for heading out to the aisles in their pyjamas.

The shoppers in Salford caused a stir online after a fellow customer spotted them and complained, Manchester Evening News reports.

The image was posted on the supermarket’s Facebook page and shows the ladies wearing what appears to be dressing gowns and pyjamas.

The pair are strolling down one of the snack aisles at around 7pm on Tuesday evening.

Shopping basket in hand, the two females seem unfazed by their slightly over casual appearance.

But an irritated customer snapped the women on his phone and sent it to Tesco asking them to ban people from doing their shop in their nightwear.

The customer even says it is becoming a regular occurance.

He said: “Dear Tesco, please can you put a rule in place that people like this will not be served in your stores.

"It’s bloody disgusting.

“This was at 7pm last night at your Tesco Salford store and I have seen other people dressed similar on a regular basis.

“I mean who doesn’t have the time to get changed into clothes to go shopping.”

Tesco responded quickly to the customer, admitting that he was not the first to be made to feel uncomfortable by some customers’ choice of clothing.

But the supermarket giant, which operates stores in Coventry and Warwickshire, also said that there wasn’t actually an official dress code.

They replied: “Many of our customers have told us that they feel uncomfortable when they see other shoppers wearing unsuitable clothing in our stores and we do try to find a balance that everyone is happy with.

“Although we don’t have a formal dress code in our stores, we rely on our Management Team to use their discretion and common sense.”

Others commented on the post, several in agreement with the customer's view.

Hayley Lambley said: “I was in Tesco in Salford last week, saw the same girls, about 30 minutes later they were on Salford precinct too. No shame.”

Jennifer Daily added: “I second this thought.

"It's a discrace.

"It takes about 30 seconds to throw on a pair of jogging bottoms and top.

"Just a sign of bone idleness.”

Gaz Leyland was appreciative of the post writing: “Absolute legend I love you.”

Lora Johnson too found the funny side adding: “The most important thing is that they’re clothed.”

Good job they dont go to Bradford or Tesco here or some of our schools they would soon get their answer
I wonder what these people say when they go shopping at sea side resorts with woman in bikinis and men in trunks walking around the super markets or topless beaches. Some people need to get a life.
