A masterplan has been unveiled for new homes to be built on the former EON HQ in Coventry.

It would see 100 homes, along with a children's play area and public green space built at Westwood Business Park.

The site has stood empty since EON moved to Friargate near the city centre.

Now the city council has received an outline planning permission with all matters reserved for future determination, apart from the means of access via Ten Shilling Drive and Westwood Way.

If approved, it would mean the existing buildings would be demolished to pave the way for up to 100 houses, open green space in the north of the site and a new children’s play area within walking distance of all of the new homes.

The design and access statement within the application states: "This redevelopment will transform a redundant commercial site into a vibrant residential neighbourhood nestled within a rich landscape of mature trees with views across adjacent woodland.

"The scheme will deliver high‑quality homes with direct access to the amenities, services and employment opportunities nearby. With an architectural design that strengthens local character and unlocks the full potential of the site."

The design and access statement, which includes a masterplan image of the site, says the proposed access is as follows:

Western access from Ten Shilling Drive

The south-western access to the site is formed of an extension of Ten Shilling Drive utilising the existing previous car park access carriageway providing access for residents and deliveries/servicing without the need for additional works to the carriageway.

The existing gates and speed hump within the site will be removed. Existing footways along Ten Shilling Drive will be continued across the access, maintaining pedestrianpriority.

Access from Westwood Way

To the north-east of the site, the former car park vehicular access will be reconfigured, acting primarily as a route for pedestrians and cyclists.

Access will be controlled by lockable bollards, or similar, allowing emergency services vehicles to take access.

Planning officers at the council are currently considering the application. It can be found on the council's website by searching the planning section for reference PL/2026/0000778/OUTM.
