Drinking and drug use at Coventry tower block 'causing nuisance to residents'
The flats, located near a police station, are being used by people who don't even live there
Non-residents drinking and taking drugs at a block of Coventry flats is making life miserable for people who live there. Falkener House on Stoney Stanton Road, is being used to smoke cannabis and consume alcohol - even though it is located opposite a police station.
Local officers who have said sorting the problem is a priority have upped patrols and are working with other organisations to resolve the complaints.
A spokesman for the Foleshill Neighbourhood Police team said: "There are reports of non residents in the block, drinking alcohol, smoking cannabis, causing nuisance to residents.
"The local police team will be working with housing officers to tackle this issue, reports of antisocial behaviour in late evening, officers have been patrolling during this time and will issue community protection notices and warnings to those responsible or who do not have a legitimate reason to be in the block."
This is an ongoing issue in the area, with police saying there has been similar issues on The Silkworks Housing Complex on Foleshill Road. Earlier this year police revealed an another issue residents were dealing with was "antisocial behaviour including urinating and defecating in lobby areas".
