A Coventry café which was the 'heart and soul' of the community has closed for good. Ball Hill Diner on Walsgrave Road had served the city for nearly 35 years before shutting for the final time on Sunday (April 19).

Staff thanked people for their support over the years and said they were 'incredibly grateful.' Manager Rhian Bird previously told CoventryLive that she was 'devastated' to be closing.

Ball Hill Diner will be reopening as a new eatery in May. Details of the business taking over are yet to be confirmed.

A spokesman for Ball Hill Diner said: “We want to say thank you to our amazing customers, our local community, our neighbours, and all the other small businesses around us who have supported us over the years.

“Sunday was not just our final day... it was something truly special! When it mattered most, friends and family stepped in, rolling up their sleeves, jumping behind the counter, and helping wherever they could.

“It was busy, it was emotional, it was full of love, and it showed exactly what this place has always been about! To every single person who has walked through our doors, shared a meal, had a chat, or been part of our story, thank you, and to our unbelievable team, past and present, you are the heart and soul of everything.
