The site went unused for several years

Part of a building formerly used as a Coventry post office could be set for a new lease of life as a takeaway.

Maudslay Road Post Office, near the junction with the Allesley Old Road, sat unused for several years before it became a hair and beauty salon about two and a half years ago.

But an unused section of the building could soon be utilised for something completely different.

A scheme submitted to Coventry City Council was shared on the planning application portal this week.

The proposal states: "Change of use of part of the ground floor to hot food takeaway and installation of extraction flue and external alterations."

Details on the application are currently limited - for instance the nature of the takeaway or the opening hours have not yet been shared.

We do know that the proposal currently states the venue will require three full time members of staff.

According to the proposed floor plans the takeaway will face out onto Maudslay Road, slightly further down from the salon's entrance on the corner of Abercorn Road.

The plan is pending consideration and has an expiration date of 6 May 2026. It can be viewed on the council's planning portal under reference: PL/2026/0000228/FUL
