Blair McDougall MP, the government’s small business minister has stepped in
Hospital appointments have been missed due to issues with Royal Mail deliveries across Nuneaton. Complaints had been made about the reliability of the service locally.
It reached the ears of Blair McDougall MP, the government’s small business minister, who has stepped in. Nuneaton's MP Jodie Gosling raised the issues with the minister, who said it was 'not good enough'.
In a message to locals, the minister explained the action he had taken. This meeting Royal Mail management in Parliament to address what have been described as 'service failures' and outlined how services must improve.
In a video update, posted on the local MP's page on Facebook, the minister said: "I know lots of residents have raised issues that delays in postal services in Nuneaton are currently causing. People in Nuneaton rely on their post, like we all do across the country, and it is not good enough it is not arriving.
"Thanks to the issues that Jodie Gosling MP has brought to my attention. I called in Royal Mail management to meet with them and to make clear that we need to see things improve.
"We are going to work in particular that NHS appointment letters are getting through."
Jodie Gosling added: "Our community deserves a reliable postal service and I will continue pressing until we see the standards local people expect and deserve."
It is not the first time that issues have been raised locally. Back in 2023, CoventryLive highlighted concerns over mail deliveries across the town, with householders in Galley Common blasting the service as a 'joke'.
