The council has said that there is an intermittent issue that has hit Alwynne Freeman Court
Elderly and vulnerable folk at a council retirement homes in Keresley have been left without hot water and heating. Those who live at Alwynne Freeman Court have not had access to the vital facilities for two weeks.
They claim that they have repeatedly contacted Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to find out when the issues will be resolved, only to be left in the dark. One resident claims they contacted the council last Thursday and had still not received an answer.
A local who lives in the village, but did not want to be named, contacted CoventryLive about the situation at the Somers Road properties and said: "The council are stringing them along. There are vulnerable people living there too.
"Not having hot water to wash, etc, for this long, it is just unacceptable."
CoventryLive put the concerns to the Town Hall and also asked when hot water and heating would be restored. In a statement, a council spokesperson said that the local authority is 'working closely' with residents and contractors to address the heating and hot water issues currently affecting the properties.
"We understand the inconvenience this has caused and are taking all necessary steps to ensure that services are restored as quickly and safely as possible," a council spokesperson said.
"The council remains firmly committed to providing suitable, safe, and well-maintained accommodation for all tenants.
"We appreciate the continued patience and co-operation of residents during this time and we will provide further updates to residents as progress is made."
