Major new changes are being introduced to National Express bus services in Coventry. Additional journeys will be added, and existing timetables will be adjusted from September 1.

National Express Coventry is increasing the number of journeys on the 6 and 6A between Pool Meadow and Tile Hill. Services will run every 10 minutes from Monday to Saturday.

Buses will also be arriving every 20 minutes on Tile Hill Lane, Broad Lane, and Banner Lane. Passengers using the 9, 11, and 12X will see reduced wait times and revised timetables that better coordinate with services between Pool Meadow and Coventry Railway Station.

Services will be operating every 5 to 10 minutes from Monday to Friday. National Express is also introducing a new city centre bus stop for the 15 to Whitmore Park and the 16 to Keresley.

Passengers can find the new stop outside the Coventry Transport Museum on Hales Street. It means more accessible connections for passengers changing from buses arriving at Pool Meadow and Trinity Street.

National Express is also adding new early morning and late night journeys to a number of bus services from the start of September:

  • Service 9: 5.45am Departure from Coventry Railway Station to University Hospital Coventry (Weekdays)

  • Service 9: 7.05am Departure from Pool Meadow to University Hospital Coventry (Weekdays)

  • Service 9: 7.40am Departure from Pool Meadow to Walsgrave Triangle (Weekdays)

  • Service 20A: 4.40am Departure from University Hospital Coventry, serving Henley Road, Bell Green, Windmill Road and Foleshill Road (Weekdays)

  • Service 12X: 11.50pm and 12.20am Departure from Pool Meadow to the University of Warwick and Canley (Monday to Saturday)

Timetables are also being revised from September 1, including the 3, 6/6A, 8, 9, 11, 12X, 13/13A, 15, 16, 17/17A, 20/20A/20B and X1. Services 8S from Cardinal Wiseman School and 9S between Bishop Ullathorne School and Green Lane will also be renumbered to 8B and 9B, respectively, and can be used by people across Coventry.

From September 29, the 15 from Whitmore Park and 21 from Willenhall will also have early morning journeys, both departing at 4.55am. Passengers will be connected with the 5.20am 11 from Pool Meadow to Coventry Railway Station, enabling them to take the first trains from Coventry to Birmingham and London.

Antony Goozee, Managing Director of National Express Coventry, said: “We know that our bus services are vital lifelines for many customers and communities and continually review our network to ensure we are providing the best possible service for residents and visitors right across the city.”

He added: “Changes that are being introduced next month will deliver an improved bus service, with better connections, increased frequency, and greater certainty for our customers so they can reliably plan to get to where they need to go. With Tap and Cap, it is easier than ever to hop on board our buses, there is no need to worry about finding the right change as our customers can make as many bus journeys as they like, and we will cap their fare automatically, so they never pay more than they need to.”
