A 'well-meaning' fly-tipper was caught on CCTV camera in Coventry.

The city council has released a still from CCTV footage taken on Owenford Road.

It explains that the cameras caught the 'well-meaning fella' putting items in the charity bank.

However, he's also left some bags alongside the bin," the council said. "That's a problem."

Despite his best intentions, the council has said that it is counted as fly-tipping. It has led to the local authority to issue a warning.

"If you do this, not matter how well intentioned you are, it is counted as fly-tipping and we have to spend your Council Tax cleaning it up," the council said.

"More importantly however, the charity won't take your donation. So please, help us out and ensure your donations get where they're needed."

The council has, over the past year, been using its social channels to highlight fly-tipping, including 'shaming' suspects.

Through its 'wall of shame' campaign, the council says it is releasing footage that shows fly-tippers in a bid to encourage locals to name and shame them.
