Body found in Coventry canal as police issue statement
Police have confirmed a body was found in a canal stretch in Coventry. There was a large emergency services presence in the Brooklyn Road area of the city yesterday afternoon (July 13).
Fire engines, police cars and ambulances were spotted in the area. This morning (July 14) West Midlands Police has confirmed to CoventryLive they responded to 999 reports a man's body was found in the canal nearby.
At the moment, the death of the man, who has not been identified, is being treated as 'unexplained'. Police investigations continue today and officers are urging anyone with any information to come forward.
The full police statement reads: "We were called to Brooklyn Road, Coventry just after 3pm yesterday (13 July) after a man's body was found in the canal.
"Officers attended and the man's death is currently being treated as unexplained. We are continuing our enquiries in the area today and are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the man before he entered the water.
"If you know anything, call 101 quoting log 2760 of 13 July."
