It would be based on Longford Road

Plans to transform an empty Coventry shop into a takeaway have been lodged. It would be based on Longford Road.

203 Longford Road could be converted into a hot food takeaway if approved by Coventry City Council. It has sat empty for some time, with the plans for the building set to bring 'vibrancy and vitality' to Longford Square.

Documents show the proposed new takeaway would open from 10am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday. It would be located next to Stone Pizza and Potbelly.

If planning permission is granted, the new city takeaway would create three jobs. One would be a full-time position, and the other two would be part-time roles, according to Coventry City Council.

Permission has also been requested to install an extraction system at the rear of the building. Applicant Mr Ranjit Sagoo said the proposed takeaway 'would not result in a concentration of hot food takeaways' in Longford.

Agent Loveitts said the building will be rented for £7,800 a year if the takeaway bid is approved by Coventry City Council. Plans will be debated in August.

That's all the area needs! :(
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Plans refused for new Coventry takeaway as there are 'too many in the area' already

Planning officers have refused a change of use request which would have seen a former PC repair shop turn into a hot food takeaway. The plans for a new food place on Longford Road hit a major stumbling block this week.

203 Longford Road is located between Stone Pizza and Potbelly. There is also Star Fish Bar on the other side of Potbelly and a Chinese Takeaway a few metres away.

But another one has been deemed one too many by council planners, with the officer report stating it would have a "detrimental impact on the health and wellbeing of the local population".

Other points which contributed to the refusal were concerns about odour control and waste.

The decision notice states its reasons for refusal as follows: "The high concentration of hot food takeaways, which would have a cumulative detrimental impact on the health and wellbeing of the local population.

"Inadequate provision for suitable odour control and fume extraction facilities which would have a detrimental impact on the amenities and living conditions of adjoining residential and commercial properties.

"Inadequate provision for waste management, which would have a detrimental impact on the amenities and conditions of adjoining residential and commercial properties."

There were also three public objections which were taken into account, summarised as too many takeaways in the area, insufficient parking, and work affecting neighbouring residents and businesses.
