Passengers have been warned of major changes to Coventry bus services this weekend. Timetables have been revised to 'improve reliability and better match passenger demand.'

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) said it has worked with National Express and Stagecoach to 'increase the efficiency' of the bus network in Coventry. Changes to a number of city services will be coming into effect on Sunday (April 27).

Services which have been altered are the National Express 5/5A and the 7/7A. People are urged to check TfWM before travelling to get the most up-to-date information on their journeys.

In Coventry, the following National Express (NX) and Stagecoach bus services have been revised from Sunday (April 27):

  • NX 5/5A (Coventry to Coundon/Coventry): Services will be replaced by a revised 7 and a new 7A. Both will operate via Barkers Butts Lane instead of Holyhead Road.

  • NX 7/7A (Bell Green to Coundon via Coventry): Services will be rerouted to serve Barkers Butts Lane, replacing the 5/5A, as Holyhead Road will now be served by the X1. Service 7A will additionally serve Norman Place Road, which was previously served by the 5.

  • Stagecoach 82 (Solihull to Coventry via Hampton in Arden): It will be operating a revised timetable from Sunday (April 26) to 'improve punctuality.' Some morning peak journeys will operate up to 10 minutes earlier, TfWM said.

  • Stagecoach 87 (Solihull to Coventry via Balsall Common): From April 26, the 87 will be operating a revised timetable to address and improve current issues with punctuality, TfWM said.

  • Stagecoach 188 (Solihull to Coventry via Dorridge): It will be operating a revised timetable to address and improve current punctuality issues, TfWM said.
A spokesman for Transport for West Midlands said: “In addition to our yearly bus network reviews, we are constantly working with operators to monitor services and make improvements where we can. To increase the efficiency of the network, bus operators may make minor changes to their services throughout the year.

“We work to update our online timetables, journey planner, and at-stop information before the change date, however this is not always possible. Please check your journey before you travel to ensure you have the most up-to-date information.”
