Memberships will be automatically transferred to PureGym at Coventry Skydome
A busy 24-hour Coventry gym will soon be closing for good. PureGym on Bishop Street has been open for 10 years but will reportedly be shutting in August.
Signs advertising that the city centre-based unit is up for let have been placed on the building. PureGym will be closing later this year, although an exact date has not yet been announced.
Staff have reportedly been offered jobs at the nearby PureGym in Skydome. Members will also automatically be transferred to the Croft Road-based facility, which they say will be 'upgraded.'
Work will be taking place to improve PureGym at Skydome in the coming days, with a brand-new Glute Zone being installed. Costs for existing gym-goers will be slashed for the 'inconvenience' of being moved.
Bosses say there is a 'huge appetite' for affordable gyms, and they are 'constantly' looking for new spaces to set up in the Midlands. But at the time of writing, there are no plans for a new PureGym to open in Coventry.
A spokesman for PureGym told CoventryLive: “We can confirm that PureGym Coventry Bishop Street will be closing this year, but are delighted that members can continue to train with us at the soon-to-be-upgraded PureGym Coventry Skydome, less than a five-minute walk away.
“Memberships will be automatically transferred on the day of closure, and as a token of our appreciation, existing PureGym Bishop Street members will be offered an exclusive discount on memberships at the new location. PureGym Coventry Skydome will receive significant investment and be upgraded in the coming months, including the latest fitness equipment, a dedicated Womens Workout Space and a Glute Zone for existing and transferred members to enjoy.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this transition and would like to thank members for training at PureGym Coventry Bishop Street. As there is a huge appetite for access to affordable fitness in Coventry, we are constantly on the lookout for potential new PureGym locations. With this in mind, we hope to provide the people of Coventry with even more access to flexible, affordable fitness in the near future.”
