Emergency services raced to a serious collision in Bedworth. An air ambulance was among the response to the incident on Astley Lane as well as firefighters, paramedics and police yesterday afternoon (March 1).
Green watch from Nuneaton Fire Station reported they faced 'multiple casualties' following the collision between two cars. Two people were left trapped after the collision.
Police closed off part of the road from The Lawns to Cow Lees as the rescue operation began. Green watch from Nuneaton Fire Station explained: "A challenging, timely, multi-agency response was needed. Working in conjunction with Bedworth fire crew, Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance, heli-med doctors to extricate and treat trapped casualties and walking wounded after two cars were involved in a collision."
Two people, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The road remained closed for more than six hours.
Police are investigating the collision, which took place at just before 9am. "Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam can contact us on 101 or via website quoting incident 94 of March 1," a Warwickshire Police spokesperson said.
