Officers have arrested a 33-year-old man from Coventry
Police have seized ten out-of-control dogs after three people were attacked in Rugby. Officers rushed to Bath Street yesterday afternoon (February 17).
Residents dialled 999 at around 3.35pm reporting that a boy walking his dog on Bath Street had been approached by three loose dogs. Police said the animals, believed to be American Bulldogs, were attacking his dog.
Officers were dispatched, and while they were on their way, three members of the public stepped in to help the boy and his dog. Though they managed to secure one of the attacking dogs, they sustained serious hand and face injuries.
Police quickly detained the secured dog in the back of their van, but the other two dogs had fled. Officers quickly established that the dogs had come from a nearby property where they found another of the animals involved in the attack, together with seven more dogs.
Cops said the third dog involved in the attack was found in a nearby garden and quickly captured. All of the dogs were seized, and a 33-year-old Coventry man was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control causing injury, Warwickshire Police said in a statement today (February 18).
He remains in custody this afternoon (February 18). Police said the seized dogs are unharmed, but they have not yet heard back on the condition of the dog belonging to the young boy, who has not been identified.
Rugby Sergeant Christian Jones said: “Thank you to those who called 999, and to those brave members of the public who stepped in to help the boy. We are all really hoping his dog makes a full recovery.”
