The Town Hall car parks will see rises - but Harefield Road car park is going to see its charges cut
New car park charges are set to be introduced across Nuneaton and Bedworth. It will soon cost more to park in some car parks while less in others.
According to a new council cabinet report, the charges in all of the car parks have not been changed for the past three years. Now, in a bid to increase usage and provide more 'flexibility', how much people pay is set to change.
The price in Harefield Road car park is set to be cut to encourage more people to use the under-used multi-storey car park. But charges are set to rise in the two car parks at the back of the Town Hall.
Also, the £1.50 charge for three hours is set to scrapped. With new hourly rates introduced.
"The revised car parking fees are designed to provide flexibility of stay for users, increase the turnover of spaces in the most popular car parks, increase use of leisure facilities and green spaces and provide an affordable option in Harefield road car park for those working in the town centre and commuters," the report states.
"It is forecast that adopting this fee structure together with improved compliance provided by the new parking payment solutions will increase total revenue by as much as 10 per cent compared to the current fee structure."
Cabinet members are set to approve the new car park charges at a meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday, January 29.
