'Drugs death' flats in Nuneaton continue to be targeted despite closure order being in place. It has only been one week since police secured the landmark three-month court closure order at the Wheat Street-based building following a number of drugs-related deaths and crime

Now the latest in a series of crimes at the building, police have confirmed it has been the target of 'numerous break ins.' As a result, officers have secured the building with metal shutters and are stepping up patrols in the area.

They have also issued a warning about anyone trying to get into the flats. They will face a fine and even risk prison if they do so.

"If you are thinking about trying to break in, please don't. You will be caught and prosecuted, just in time for Christmas," the team said. The latest action comes after police made an arrest - for a suspected drug dealer - just as they put the closure order in place last Tuesday (November 26).

Then, only a matter of days later, they caught a man inside the building. Kirk Stevenson, aged 39 of no fixed abode, was fined £56 with an additional victim’s surcharge of £16 for entering a property with a closure order in place on it.

No one, without official police permission, can go into Warwick House. My Space Housing Solutions runs the building.

Please note the building on the left is Federal Express and has nothing to do with the story.
