Other alternatives were looked at - including moving itFinal preparations are being put into the biggest ever make-over of Bedworth's indoor market. The council announced it planned to put £700,000 into improving the covered market on Mill Street.
It was last year when the Town Hall launched a review to decide the future of the indoor market and then announced that, after exploring several options including moving it, decided to give it a huge make-over instead.
Among the changes include minor improvements to pedestrian access as well as the provision of 20 fixed units. There are also proposals for a food area on right hand, at the front of the market, with a seating area.
Cash to fund the huge project out of the £4,028,173 UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) given to the borough council by the government. CoventryLive asked the Town Hall for an update on the works, as the UKSPF have to be spent within a certain timeframe.
In a statement, a council spokesperson said that details are being finalised. But they stressed that the market is due to remain open while the improvements are made.
"We are awaiting final plans and dates, but the market will not close during any of the improvement works," the spokesperson said.
