The Environment Agency has issued two flood alerts as heavy rain is set to lash Coventry and Warwickshire tonight. According to the latest map of flood warning and alert areas, there are two in Warwickshire.

Both the River Blythe, which runs through part of North Warwickshire, and the River Arrow and River Alne in south Warwickshire have flood alerts in place. The Environment Agency has said that it has issued the floods alert as a precautionary measure.

"We are closely monitoring the situation," the map states. "Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast."

The news about the flood alerts comes as heavy rain is forecast to hit our region later this evening. The Met Office weather map indicated a 'red' band of rain sweeping into Coventry just before 8pm.

The 'heavy showers' are set to clear eastwards, although a few lighter showers are set to linger overnight. Tomorrow (October 17) is set to be a drier day.

But more rain is heading our way as we head into the weekend with some heavy rain forecast for Saturday (October 19).

I very much doubt that?

Has anyone living near a river ever spotted one of these so-called incident response staff during a flood alert because I certainly haven't!
