Woman targeted by masked man in ATM theft at Morrisons

Police are investigating after an OAP had her card stolen at an ATM in Coventry. She was targeted at Morrisons on Holyhead Road.

A masked man was said to have approached the 78-year-old woman while she was standing at an ATM. He then convinced the OAP that her card had been 'swallowed.'

It is believed the man then stole the card and fled towards Four Pounds Avenue. Police said the incident happened between 2.45pm and 3.45pm on Monday, September 30.

Witnesses have been urged to get in touch with West Midlands Police. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers.

In a statement issued today (October 7), West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after a woman reported her bank card being stolen in Coventry.

“Between 2.45pm and 3.45pm on September 30, the woman was at an ATM on Holyhead Road where a man approached her and stole her card. Anyone who saw what happened can contact us via 101 or Live Chat, quoting crime number 20/883259/24.”
