Three trouble-hit Coventry homes have been closed down following reports of 'persistent crime and anti-social behaviour.' Police shut down addresses on Heera Close, Stoney Stanton Road and Hampton Road.

Officers have spent the last few weeks working to shut down the city-based properties after complaints of anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and cuckooing. All three addresses have now been ordered to close for three months by Coventry Magistrates' Court.

Cops closed down an address on Heera Close earlier this year after reports of anti-social behaviour and drug dealing, as well as concerns the occupant was being exploited. On Thursday, May 30, this was extended for a further three months after the people inside were found to be 'breaching' the conditions, West Midlands Police said.

Officers were said to have recovered stolen goods when they raided an address on Stoney Stanton Road in April. It has now been closed down, with no one allowed inside until the end of August.

Police also closed an address on Hampton Road after reports of drug offences, anti-social behaviour and cuckooing. On May 23, Coventry Magistrates' Court granted a three-month closure, banning anyone other than the resident from entering.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We work with partners from the local authority and housing providers to make sure the sites are kept secure or are tidied up while vacant, helping improve the area for people living nearby. If you are concerned about criminal behaviour happening where you live, call us on 101 or use Live Chat on our website. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

A gun was found in a man's trousers during a police raid.

Officers had searched a property in Heera Close, Coventry, which had been shut by a closure order, but they came across Levi Williams, 36.

A revolver and live ammunition were discovered in the waistband of his trousers and he was arrested.

Williams, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to firearms possession and breaching the closure order. He was sentenced to five years and three months in prison.

Members of the public had banned from entering the property after the closure order was granted in March, following concerns of anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and cuckooing.

Det Ch Insp Adam Jobson of West Midlands Police said: "Firearms have no place on the street and we will track down and arrest anyone who thinks they should have one."

The raid took place on 2 April.
