West Midlands Police cars were spotted at Foxford School in LongfordA bomb threat led to a Coventry school being forced to close today. West Midlands Police have confirmed that it received a 999 call from Foxford School earlier this morning, Wednesday, April 10, after what has been described as a 'bomb threat' was received by the school.
Officers were spotted in the area and it has been confirmed that a search has been carried out at the school. A West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed that nothing suspicious was found.
The full police statement reads: "We were called to Foxford School, Grange Road, at just after 7.30am this morning (10 April) after a bomb threat was received. Officers attended and carried out a search. Nothing suspicious was found."
A message was sent to parents and carers from the school earlier today to explain that 'unforeseen circumstances at the school site' meant that the school could not open today. It contained no details of the incident.
But some students had already left to get to school on time. In some cases, parents had to call them to break the news of the closure, while others were turned away at the school site.
Remote learning has been taking place today while the school is closed. It is not yet known if it will re-open again for lessons tomorrow.
