A bomb threat led to a Coventry school being forced to close today. West Midlands Police have confirmed that it received a 999 call from Foxford School earlier this morning, Wednesday, April 10, after what has been described as a 'bomb threat' was received by the school.

Officers were spotted in the area and it has been confirmed that a search has been carried out at the school. A West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed that nothing suspicious was found.

The full police statement reads: "We were called to Foxford School, Grange Road, at just after 7.30am this morning (10 April) after a bomb threat was received. Officers attended and carried out a search. Nothing suspicious was found."

A message was sent to parents and carers from the school earlier today to explain that 'unforeseen circumstances at the school site' meant that the school could not open today. It contained no details of the incident.

But some students had already left to get to school on time. In some cases, parents had to call them to break the news of the closure, while others were turned away at the school site.

Remote learning has been taking place today while the school is closed. It is not yet known if it will re-open again for lessons tomorrow.

Coventry school breaks silence after bomb threat forced closure

The Coventry school at the centre of a bomb threat has confirmed it will open again tomorrow. Foxford School was forced to send out urgent messages to parents and carers this morning (April 10).

At the time it said it was due to 'unforeseen circumstances at the school site'. But West Midlands Police confirmed to CoventryLive that the closure followed a report of a bomb threat.

Fortunately, after officers searched the Grange Road-based school, nothing suspicious was found. Now the school has confirmed that, following today's closure, it will open again tomorrow (April 11).

In a message shared with CoventryLive, the school said: "Following a hoax threat to Foxford School in Longford today (Wednesday 10 April) the school was closed to students and staff, in the interest of staff and student safety.

"Remote learning was implemented instead. The school site was searched by West Midlands Police, but nothing suspicious was discovered.

"Staff have followed the advice from the police and school will be open tomorrow for everyone as usual."
