Girlfriend beaten and locked up for two weeksA JEALOUS man carried out a series of attacks on his girlfriend and kept her under lock and key for two weeks.
Amar Jawaid was jailed for four years at Birmingham Crown Court.
Jawaid, 27, of Showell Green Lane, Sparkhill, who used a knuckle duster and a vodka bottle to batter Yasmin Harrison, admitted false imprisonment and three charges of assault.
Ms Harrison described her partner becoming a control freak, always wanting to know where she had been, said David Jones, prosecuting.
He would get drunk and become moody, blaming her for his bad luck in life.
The assaults came to the attention of the police when officers went to their address on an unrelated matter and saw the state Ms Harrison was in.
Mr Jones said that after being arrested and bailed, Jawaid went back to his girlfriend and threatened her not to carry on with the prosecution.
He then took her to another address in Showell Green Lane where she was beaten and locked in.
Jawaid eventually left her room unlocked and she escaped to hospital.
