Developers want to build 93 homes off Isadora Lea



Plans for 93 homes could get the go ahead this week despite opposition.

The scheme for land off Isadora Lea in Coventry will be decided on Thursday, and council officers said it should be approved

There have been more than 90 objections from residents, a planning report said.

Complaints centre on the amount of traffic and routes it would take on and off the estate.

Objectors said roads in the New Century Park development were “too narrow and congested” to take the extra traffic.

A different road that links with the A402 is the “obvious choice” as the entry and exit point instead, residents said.

More than 100 people have also signed a petition calling for this route, Second Avenue, to be used instead.

But developers said that route is privately owned and cannot be used by cars.

Council officers said the site will now have two access points after the council’s roads team called for changes to the layout.

If the plans are approved developers will pay towards improvements, the report said.

The section 106 agreement for developer contributions to services would include more than £1m for education, £300,000 for a cycle route and £32,500 for cameras at junctions.

Most of the new homes would be three-bedroom houses and 25% would be “affordable housing.”
