Dozens of Tesco shoppers have been left fuming after being hit by 'joke' parking fine at the Coventry Building Society Arena. More than 70 people reported being issued with a fine for parking 'over the lines' within the bays at the car park.

They piled onto a post social media site, nextdoor, after Surinder Jassi asked for advice in regards to her daughter receiving a fine. "Her car was slightly on the line and she received a parking charge notice letter for £100 or £60 if paid immediately," she said.

"She was in a bay and not obstructing anything or anyone." It led to a flurry of comments from people who had also received a similar fine, one branding it a 'joke'. Some claimed that it has also happened within the disabled bays as well as the family bays too.

Some even went as far as to say that they are now boycotting the store. Many of them added that they appealed the fine they received, with only a small minority succeeding.

The mum was keen to spread the word about the situation. "So far over 75 people have commented on having shared a similar experience," she said "I think people should be aware of what is happening. This greed needs to end."
