A nuisance Nuneaton council tenant has been jailed after breaching an order to stop his anti-social behaviour 23 times. Carl Holland, formerly of Park Lane, Nuneaton, received an Injunction Order in March last year for causing serious and frequent anti-social behaviour.

The year-long order was put in place as Holland was behind a spate of criminal damage to council property. He also used weapons, threatening violence and verbal abuse towards residents and caused a noise nuisance by way of shouting and playing excessively loud music.

It banned him from 'conduct that could cause a nuisance or annoyance to residents, as well as behaving in an intimidating or abusing manner and using or threatening violence' towards residents of Park Lane. It also banned him from causing criminal damage to any Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council property.

But the 51-year-old man was reported to have breached the order and the council's anti-social behaviour officers started an investigation. This led to committal proceedings taking place County Court at Coventry in December where Holland failed to attend both the pre-committal hearing and sentencing.

In his absence, he was found guilty of 23 breaches of the injunction order. As a result, in January, Holland was sentenced to three months imprisonment and to pay costs of £5,285.50.

Then, on February 9, following a warrant issued by the County Court, members of Nuneaton's safer neighbourhood team arrested Holland. Now he has begun his stretch in jail.

Speaking about the council's action, councillor Clare Golby, Town Hall deputy leader and cabinet member for housing communities, said: "Criminal and persistent anti-social behaviour has no place in our communities. The case of Carl Holland highlights the serious consequences individuals face when they repeatedly disregard the rights and well-being of their neighbours.

"We're committed to ensuring the safety and security of all our residents, and will continue to work alongside our partners, including Warwickshire Police, to address anti-social behaviour and improve the standards of our community. This outcome serves as a reminder that we will take robust action to protect our neighbourhoods and hold people accountable for their actions."
