Coventry power cut as smoke billows from pavement after 'electrical fire'

Residents were without electricity for several hours after a fire broke out in Coventry. Firefighters were called to Everdon Road earlier today (Friday, February 9).

Smoke could be seen coming from the pavement on Everdon Road. Crews from Foleshill Fire Station were called to the scene at around 7.25am.

Cordons were erected while the incident was dealt with by the National Grid. Engineers were reportedly at the scene throughout the morning (February 9).

Approximately 153 properties were left without power in Holbrooks. Residents were said to have been affected on Everdon Road and Langlodge Road.

National Grid said they 'apologised for any inconvenience this has caused.' Supply was restored at around 1pm today (February 9).

National Grid has confirmed that the power supply has now been restored in Holbrooks.

A spokesman said: 'We are pleased to say that the incident is now closed and everyone should be back on supply.'
