The Stagecoach price rises will come into force within days and will affect DayRider and MegaRider pricesStagecoach are to increase some bus charges across Nuneaton, Coventry and Warwickshire. The company has said that while the £2 single fare continues to be offered, it has had to look at its other fares due to rising petrol, maintenance and staff costs.
It will mean a number of changes, including to DayRider and MegaRider prices, along with some fares which are less than £2. The Nuneaton Plus boundary will also be moved, so that people will not able to travel beyond Atherstone towards Tamworth or Mearsham.
However, the Nuneaton MegaRider, is going to be expanded to include Atherstone, Hinckley, Arley and Ansley . The changes are due to come into force on Sunday, February 18.
All of the new fare pricesA spokesperson said: "The government £2 single ‘Help for Households’ scheme remains in place until at least 30 th June and is providing customers buying single journeys with excellent value. This scheme is helping us to make sure that the maximum single fare our customers pay continues to be £2.
"Our other ticket products which make it easy to travel across our extensive network of services, and are designed for those making several journeys or using different services each day continue to offer great value for money. As part of our ongoing review of our services and products we have reviewed prices to ensure that the services we provide are sustained in the long term.
"As with other businesses, we have seen our operational costs increase, for example a 21 per cent increase in fuel costs, 16 per cent increase in maintenance materials for our fleet and we have agreed pay increases to support our staff through the cost-of-living pressures.
"We have taken the opportunity to review our Nuneaton travel zones, meaning customers travelling from Atherstone, Hinckley, Arley & Ansley into Nuneaton will be able to buy the cheaper Nuneaton MegaRider ticket saving them around 45 per cent on their travel. Those travelling from Atherstone to Tamworth or Measham will need to buy either a Midlands Gold or £2 singles if cheaper.
"Our ticket range continues to provide choice and value for our customers."
