Visitors have been told to avoid Caludon Castle Park in Wyken
Residents have been urged to avoid a popular green space due to flooding in Coventry. A large area of flood water is set to be pumped out of Caludon Castle Park in Wyken.
Coventry City Council said there is a 'significant area' of flood water at Caludon Castle Park. Officials say the water will be pumped away today (Monday, January 8).
Visitors have been advised to keep children and pets away from the flood water, which is 'deep in some parts.' It comes after the region was hit by heavy rainfall during Storm Henk.
Today, the Environment Agency has warned that more than 1,800 properties have already flooded, and more could be affected over the next week as river levels rise in the UK. Experts say the impact of high water levels is likely to continue over the coming days, particularly in parts of the Midlands, Lincolnshire and on the River Thames.
A spokesman for Coventry City Council said: “Please be aware that there is a significant area of flood water in Caludon Castle Park. Visitors to the park are advised to keep children and pets away from the water which is deep in some parts.
“Visitors should also avoid the area surrounding the water which is due to be pumped away on Monday, January 8. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
