Calls have been made for a complete 're-think' of the flood defencesAnger has erupted as a flood defence has been breached at a notorious Coventry hotspot. Broad Lane has long been a flooding hotspot and the road was closed for three weeks in 2017 so work could be carried out to stop standing water problems.
Only last year a petition was signed by more than 100 people for the situation to finally be resolved. But today's barrage of rain has seen the flood defences breach in places in the area.
It has led to calls for Coventry City Council to have a 'complete re-think' as Councillor Peter Male took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post a video of the flooded area.
On it, he posted: "It looks like a complete re-think is needed for the flood defences on Broad Lane, Eastern Green. Residents and their homes cannot continue to be threatened by heavy rainfall in this way."
As rain is set to continue to lash the area into the evening, the situation is only set to be made worse.
