Fireworks display at Nuneaton Borough FC cancelled

A fireworks display due to be held at Nuneaton Borough FC has been cancelled amid the club's exile from its home stadium. The Southern League Premier Central side was issued with a notice of re-entry from the FCS Stadium last month with the landlord citing unpaid rent.

As such, the club's fireworks display, which was scheduled to be at the venue on Friday night, has now been scrapped. A post on the club's Facebook page said: "Due to the ongoing situation with the stadium, our fireworks event scheduled for Friday 3rd Nov is cancelled.

"All ticket holders have been emailed and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Ticket holders will be able to gain free entry to the Rugby club's event on Sunday 5th November. Please find a link to their event here."

The display was due to feature outdoor street food, market stalls, a fun fair, cocktail bars and live music as well as fireworks. Its cancellation is the latest setback for the club which has been in rent arrears to the stadium's owners since 2019.

The Boro's home league game against Halesowen Town on Tuesday night will now be reversed and played at The Grove, the club also confirmed today. The sides' meeting in April is being allocated as Boro's home fixture.

It's the third home fixture to be rescheduled since the notice of re-entry was issued. The club's league match against Bromsgrove Sporting last week was hastily switched to Hinckley Leicester Road FC and the weekend's FA trophy clash with Hyde United was moved to the Manchester outfit's ground.
