The new recycling change for bin users in Nuneaton and Bedworth will mean locals no longer have to separate their recycling, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council say
The biggest recycling bin change in years looms for householders in Nuneaton and Bedworth. As of tomorrow (Monday, October 23), people will no longer have to separate their recycling.
Instead of using the plastic caddy for paper and card, all recycling can be mixed together in the brown-lid bin. The move comes as Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council become the last of several local councils to start using a new super recycling facility in Coventry.
The borough council, alongside five others, all put funding in to pay for the new Material Recycling Facility (MRF) which has the capacity to deal with recycling on a much bigger, much organised scale. So, essentially, instead of householders locally sorting out the recycling, the plant itself will do it.
The changed to mixed recycling is the biggest since the latest insert plastic caddies were introduced. This has been a source of complaints from people, including about not having enough space for their paper and cardboard recycling.
Once the new mixed collection goes live, all of the recycling can be put together. The council has said that people can keep their caddies if they want to.
However, the Town Hall has said that it will collect the unwanted caddies, although a date for this has not yet been pencilled in. "The borough council will confirm a date when caddies will be collected from the roadside from those residents who don’t want to keep theirs," spokesman previously said.
The change to the brown-lid bins comes weeks after changes were made to refuse collections across the borough. More than 40 per cent of people saw their 'bin day' change as the council changed routes to accommodate the new housing estates that have emerged across the two towns.
