A CCTV appeal has been launched to identify a man who suffered critical injuries in Coventry. He was found in Stoke but police have tonight (August 22) revealed they have yet to establish who he is.

Detectives say the man in the images, pictured wearing grey, was left with serious head injuries following the attack on Brighton Street on Saturday, August 19. He is aged between 30 and 40 and has shoulder-length brown hair and facial hair, said West Midlands Police.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital following the attack which happened at around 8pm. Police say the man in blue is not a suspect, and have urged him or anyone who knows him to call 101.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are releasing these images to try to identify anyone involved in a serious assault on Brighton Street, Coventry on Saturday (August 19). We are still trying to identify the man in grey in these photos who was left with serious head injuries.

“He remains in a critical condition in hospital and we are hoping these images will jog the memory of anyone who was in the area at around 8pm on August 19. We are urging the man in blue, who is not a suspect, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward and contact us via Live Chat or 101 quoting log 1562 of August 21.”

A man has been charged with murdering a man who was found in a street with serious injuries.

Krzysztof Salasa, 50, died in hospital on Thursday, 12 days after he was found with head injuries in Brighton Street, Coventry.

Tomasz Langner, 50, of no fixed abode, was arrested on Friday and has since been charged with his murder, said West Midlands Police.

The force said he appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Mr Langner was remanded in custody and is expected to appear at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday, it added.

"The family of Mr Salasa have been informed and our thoughts remain with them at this time. They are being supported by specially trained officers," a forces spokesperson said.
