A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being found stabbed in a Coventry park. Police say that the victim, who has not been identified but is aged in his 40s, was found with stab wounds in Gosford Green Park earlier this morning August 20).

They responded to 999 calls just before 3.10am and he was taken to hospital and a West Midlands Police spokesman said: "He remains in a serious condition."

Now an investigation is underway to find his attacker and police have thrown a cordon around most of the park as they search for evidence and forensics.

"We thank everyone for their patience while we work to establish exactly what happened and why," the West Midlands Police spokesman added. "We'll have increased patrols in the area over the coming days to provide reassurance."

As well as carrying out their investigations at the crime scene, officers are keen to hear from anyone who has any information about the stabbing.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote log 517 of 20 August," the spokesman added. Details can also be passed on via the independent charity Crimestoppers, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.

Didn't serve his previous full sentence, didn't learn his lesson; hopefully, this time he'll go down for a lot longer.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Three men guilty of killing 'treasured' dad in brutal Coventry stabbing

Image

Three men have been convicted over the killing of a 'loved' dad in Coventry. Marvin Warmington was brutally stabbed at Gosford Green Park.

Mr Warmington was killed after an argument over drug dealing and the theft of a shared bicycle on August 20, 2023. Police said following the argument the 47-year-old was stabbed in the heart at Gosford Green Park.

Momoh Sesay, Arhin Tutu and Daniel Israel were then seen making off and the murder weapon was found concealed in a bush within Gosford Green Park. Mr Warmington was taken to hospital but sadly died from his injuries.

Officers carried out enquiries and quickly arrested Arhin Tutu, Momoh Sesay and Daniel Israel, with mobile phone conversations showing Israel and Sesay discussing what had happened. In the messages they had referred to the knife, asking if Israel had 'left the ting in the park.'

Texts showed them discussing fleeing to London and describing one another as brothers, with one saying: '...never had a brother but found one in you... I will forever be a gang member.' Messages between Israel and Tutu also showed that they were involved in drug dealing.

Tutu who was arrested with a samurai sword in the waistband of his trousers, failed to comment when interviewed. Sesay denied being the one who stabbed Mr Warmington, whom he referred to as 'Reds.'

Instead, Sesay claimed that he tried to defuse the situation, but failed to explain why his fingerprints were on the knife recovered from Gosford Green Park. Israel claimed when interviewed that he was only a drug user and not a dealer and denied being the one who stabbed Mr Warmington.

Officers searched the address where Sesay lived and found drugs and weighing scales, as well as mobile phones used to sell drugs. All three men had previously pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of drugs and Tutu had pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon, said West Midlands Police.

Today, Sesay, 23, and Tutu, 23, have been found guilty of murder and 35-year-old Israel has been convicted of manslaughter, said West Midlands Police. Sesay, from Coventry, Tutu from Bulkington, and Israel are due to be sentenced on Tuesday, March 26.

Three jailed over murder of man stabbed in park

Three men have been jailed, two of them for life, for killing a man in a Coventry park in an argument over the theft of a shared bicycle.

Momoh Sesay and Arhin Tutu had both been found guilty of murdering Marvin Warmington after he was stabbed in Gosford Green Park on Binley Road in August 2023.

Sesay was given life with a minimum of 26 years, while Tutu was given life with a minimum of 27 years for murder.

A third man, Daniel Israel, will serve 11 years after he was found guilty of manslaughter.

All three had pleaded guilty to charges of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, and will serve sentences for those offences concurrently.

Sesay, 23 and from Kingsland Avenue, Coventry, Tutu, 22, of Leicester Street, Bedworth and Israel, 34 and of no fixed abode, were sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday.

Their victim, Marvin Warmington, was described by his family as "extremely kind and empathetic" and "always smiling."

In a tribute to the 47-year-old they said "he was loved and liked by all who knew him," and the family felt "lost" since his death.

Mr Warmington was stabbed in the heart in the early hours of 20 August 2023 following an argument about the theft of a bicycle, said West Midlands Police.

It was a "senseless and violent act which cost Mr Warmington his life," said Det Sgt Leigh Harrison.

"We hope this conviction will bring some closure to his family following their loss."
