Man named and charged after 'attempted kidnap' of four-year-old girl in Coventry

A man has been charged after an alleged attempted kidnap of a four-year-old girl in Coventry. It happened at Allesley Park on Thursday, June 29.

A police probe was launched following reports that a man tried to 'grab' a young girl while she was out playing. Officers said the man attempted to snatch the girl before her father intervened pulling his child away.

Muhammad Khan was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap on Monday, July 3. He was later charged and appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, July 5).

Khan, 22, has now been remanded into custody. He will appear at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday, August 3.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We have charged a 22-year-old with attempted kidnap after an incident in Coventry last week.

“Muhammad Khan was arrested on Monday (July 3) and remanded in custody to appear at Coventry Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, July 5). It comes after an incident in Allesley Park on Thursday, June 29.”
