Council bosses have confirmed they have received complaints after a fiery full council meeting. It has not been revealed how many nor what they are about but Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has told CoventryLive that it has received official complaints following the latest meeting.

It was a fiery encounter that had to be stopped three times by Nuneaton and Bedworth's Mayor, councillor Jeff Clarke, who left the chamber each time. There were heated exchanges not only across the chamber but also from the public gallery.

Several residents walked out and one was also asked to leave during the meeting on April 19. Now the Town Hall says it is investigating the complaints made and, they could be referred to its audit and standards committee.

At one point a video of the meeting was removed from the council's website, at the request of a resident. It has since been put back on the Town Hall confirmed.

In a statement, Brent Davis, the council's chief executive, said: "The borough council has received complaints following the latest full council meeting. The council has a comprehensive and robust complaints process which is administered by its Audit and Standards Committee.

"Any matters raised are considered in accordance with council procedures and, if appropriate, referred to that committee to ensure due process has been followed."
