These are the roadworks drivers should be aware of when travelling in and out of the city
Roadworks can be a pain for motorists whether the works are on a busy main road, a carriageway or a country round.
Whether you are travelling into the city or out of town, roadworks can add to your journey time with the build-up of traffic, which isn't ideal if you are planning a day trip or staycation. This can cause frustration for commuters travelling to and from work, and even parents on the school runs in the rush hour traffic.
Coventry has ongoing roadworks from the Binley cycleway to carriageway resurfacing works which is causing major disruption across the city.
There are lots of roadworks in Coventry this week, so we compiled a list of all the ones you need to be aware off before setting off on your journey:
- Spon End - 24-hour lights and lane closures until Saturday October 7.
- Butts Road - 24-hour lights and lane closures until October 7.
- Allesley Old Road - 24-hour lights and lane closures until October 7.
- Ringway Rudge - 24-hour lights and lane closures until Friday June 30.
- Croft Road - 24-hour lights and lane closures until Wednesday August 16.
- Upper Spon Street - road closure until June 30.
- Binley Road - Multi-way lights between 9:30am-3:30pm for the Binley cycleway until June 30.
- Brinklow Road - Lane closure/lights for 24 hours until June 30.
- Charter Avenue - Road closure between 9am-3pm for cycleway installation until Friday June 2.
- Clifford Bridge Road - Road closure between 8pm-5am for carriageway resurfacing until Friday May 12.

The Butts Radial Bypass (correct name) is also closed to pedestrians in BOTH directions.
I had to take a bus into town even though it was only one stop. With hindsight I should have taken the bus home again as the alternative was a long detour via Queens Road/Butts Road (proper). All of the shortcuts are fenced off.
