Free replacement for wheelie bins if they are broken by residents in Nuneaton and Bedworth is coming to an end. As of April 3, if a black, green or brown been has been damaged by a resident then Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will ask for a contribution towards the cost of repair or replacement.

The council said that each case will be assessed and then a decision will be made on whether it can be fixed or if a replacement is needed.

The proposed new tariff charge is as follows:

  • £20 for a repair
  • £36 for a replacement 140L
  • £38 for a replacement 240L
There are no proposals for replacement or repaired inserts and the council says that i the bin is damaged by the collection crew, then there will be no charge levied against the resident.

News about the change is contained within a special report to the finance and public services overview and scrutiny panel, who are due to meet at the Town Hall on Thursday, March 30.
