A mum has been left furious after her daughter was allegedly assaulted at a secondary school in Coventry. She was viciously 'hit in the face with a toilet door' at Caludon Castle School.

Gemma Brennan was left in shock after receiving a call to say her 13-year-old daughter had been hurt in an incident at the school in Wyken. She said her daughter had to be taken to hospital after the alleged assault which happened on Tuesday, February 28.

Gemma, 40, said her daughter was injured after a teenage boy kicked the toilet cubicle door open to take photographs of her. A boy was said to have 'donkey kicked' the door leaving the 13-year-old girl with marks on her arm and a large cut on her forehead.

Gemma, who lives in Wyken, told CoventryLive: “She went into the cubicles and one boy kept donkey kicking the door. It hit her on the arm and then he did it again and it smashed her right in the face.”

Issues started to arise at the city school after the introduction of unisex toilets, the mum claimed. A number of parents are said to have raised concerns with school leaders which have 'fallen on deaf ears.'

Gemma said: “It is an ongoing problem at that school, there are unisex toilets so girls and boys have to share and the boys go in and take photos of the girls, kick the doors down and there are no locks on the doors so they are going over to the cubicles to take photos and videos which is a massive concern.”

Gemma claimed that the locks on the cubicle doors have been 'broken off' due to students kicking them so frequently. “Well, there are no locks on the doors, they have all been broken off because the boys kick them so much,” she said.

She claimed that her daughter has been disciplined for using the toilets at quieter times during the day. “What my daughter is doing is she is waiting until it is nearly lesson time to go to the toilet so there are no boys there, and she goes to the lessons late and then gets a detention for it,” said Gemma.

Other parents are said to have raised concerns about the unisex toilets with some teenage girls not changing their sanitary products as they are fearful that the doors may be kicked open leaving them exposed. Gemma said: “I have sent emails before to complain about this saying you need to do something about these toilets. Our children are not safe.”

She added: “How is that fair for our children and the safeguarding of these girls and boys? I have had so many parents come to me since they found out about this saying their sons are scared to go to the toilets, and they will not go to the toilets all day because they are frightened that they will get accused of doing something to the girls.”

Gemma said her daughter has not returned to school due to the fear of being ridiculed. “She is humiliated and now she is getting children laughing at her and bullying her because of this big mark on her head so she is too embarrassed to go to school. I am not sending my daughter to school to be ridiculed and laughed at because of this,” she said.

Unisex toilets!

Maybe the muppets that proposed and promoted these would like to offer their views? - No, I thought not! :fuming: :fuming: :fuming:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

I suspect the problems run much deeper than that and are not confined to the one school either?
