Design revealed for controversial takeaway and apartments plan at Bedworth Sainsbury's Local

Designs have been revealed for controversial new apartments and a takeaway on the Sainsbury's Local site in Bedworth. It had been thought that the proposal for the land off Coventry Road, which used to be the Orchard pub, would be thrown out by planning members at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

There were 10 objections, eight addresses and three objections from unknown addresses as well as a petition with 40 signatures objecting on the grounds of highway safety, parking concerns noise and litter. But the plan was given the green light in December last year, on the proviso that a number of conditions were adhered to.

These conditions included the drainage plans for the new developments as well as what equipment will be used in the takeaway to help reduce noise and explain what ventilation will be used. Another condition is what boundary treatments, such as trees and landscaping, will be put in place at the site.

The latest planning application, which is for approval of details reserved by conditions, includes a map which highlights what these boundary treatments will be as well as the location of the takeaway and parking.

This new application is being looked at by planning team members at the Town Hall. There is a public consultation as part of this.
