Suspected gunman named and charged over violent disorder in Cross Cheaping
A man has been charged following a violent disorder in Coventry. A brawl broke out outside KFC on Cross Cheaping on Wednesday (January 18).
Police swarmed the city centre street shortly after 6pm before a number of officers combed the scene and surrounding area for evidence. A man was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after he was hit over the head with a weapon.
Daniel Mutton, 20, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm, possession of a bladed or pointed article in public and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He was remanded to appear at Coventry Magistrates' Court today (Friday, January 20).
A spokesman for Coventry Police said: "We have charged a man with grievous bodily harm after an incident in Cross Cheaping, Coventry on Wednesday (January 18). Daniel Mutton, aged 20, was charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm, possession of a bladed or pointed article in public and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place."
