Coventry City Council say the sites will help families to get rid of extra festive waste
Five waste drop-off sites will open in Coventry in the New Year. The temporary sites will be dotted around the city in January to help residents get rid of extra household waste and recycling from over the festive period.
Coventry City Council say that household waste and recycling collections will remain unaffected and continue on the normal scheduled days. Garden waste collections will remain paused until January 17.
The last time drop-off sites were used in Coventry was during the recent bin strike.
The five pop-up points will be located at:
- Willenhall Social Club, CV3 3BB
- Hearsall Common, CV5 6GN
- Cheylesmore Car Park, CV1 2HJ
- Alderman’s Green Road Car Park, CV2 1PL
- Telfer Road Car Park, CV6 3DR
The sites will be open from 8am and 4.30pm on the following days:
- Saturday, January 7
- Sunday, January 8
- Saturday, January 14
- Sunday, January 15
- Saturday, January 21
- Sunday, January 22
Cllr Patricia Hetherton, Cabinet Member for City Services, said: “Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together and we know that those celebrations can lead to extra waste being created. We want to help our residents get rid of this additional waste in a safe and secure manner. That is why we’re opening these drop sites.
“I want to stress that these sites aren’t replacing our standard bin collections and our crews will be out collecting this festive period. This is just about giving our residents options."
